Huon Bush Retreats is set in an extensive private nature reserve just 50 minutes' drive south of Hobart, near Huonville in the Huon Valley, Tasmania.

We are an award winning, carbon neutral (Green Globe accredited) retreat offering guests a choice of contemporary, self contained cabins, deluxe tipees and private campsites against an inspiring backdrop of Tasmanian native forest.

Relax by the fire with a glass of local wine or take in the view from the deck surrounded by native birds and wildlife. With easy access to 5km of interpreted walking tracks through rainforest, to a hidden waterfall or a mountaintop, you will not miss internet or television here. Your cabin is comfortably catered for with gas cooking facilities, fresh rainwater, solar powered lights, an eco-friendly composting toilet, a cosy wood heater and a private outdoor bath.

Please note that we are a true bush retreat with 4km of narrow, winding gravel road.

  Direction

  1. 1. From Hobart, follow Davey Street to the A6 Southern Outlet. Follow the signs to Huonville until Grove.
     2. Continuing on the A6, go 3km south from Grove. Look for the blue and yellow "Huon Bush Retreats" signs at the C619 turnoff towards Judbury. Drive 4km to Ranelagh.
     3. Follow the "Huon Bush Retreats" sign by turning right, then immediately left, following the C619 North Huon Road. Continue 2.5km and look for the "Huon Bush Retreats" sign and turn right into Browns Road.
     4. Now on the gravel road, there are lots of animals from mid afternoon, so please drive slowly. It's 3km of narrow, winding gravel road to the front gate, then 1km to reception. One section is steep with concrete on the steepest parts. Use first gear and drive at a steady speed (20-30km/h). Do not stop on the hill.
